Lou, we grew up separated by 2 chronological years and who knows how much difference in all the other measurements. It led to many fights, I recall, although I cannot remember what even one was about, can you? Fortunately, you were able to get Joyce to agree to marry you and she was able to do so much with you! I know she married you because I was there - it took all day and 2 ceremonies in 2 different churches - you were definitely married! Has it really been 50 years? We have covered some ground since then - You moved to jobs in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Detroit and I moved to Cleveland, Albany and Brooklyn and somehow we returned to Middletown in the same year - both needing to mend ailing hearts. The only fights I recall after that were held over our ping-pong tables. As I glanced at some of our family pictures, I was reminded that we managed to get out of Middletown again for brief periods. Part of that is because our kids also ventured away from Middletown (even farther than we did) and stayed away. Some of it because of the OSU Buckeyes, like the Alamo Bowl and the Rose Bowl. And some of it because of a curiosity to see some of the world and meet some of the people that we read about in school. We went to Russia and several Baltic countries between St. Petersburg and Amsterdam. Ooh yes, we did have a fight or two didn't we - scrabble and shuffleboard, etc - the competition never ends. Well, we should be used to it after 3/4 of a century. Fortunately, Joyce and Virginia know how to handle it, and more importantly, they are great mothers and so we all get to enjoy our wonderful children and grandchildren - sometimes at events like the picture of your table at Catherine Christy's baptism celebration. And sometimes when our grandchildren are trying to teach us some of the features of today's new technologies. Makes you wonder what the next 25 years holds, doesn't it? Does more aging produce a finer wine? Save your toasting glasses and we will see. What I have been trying to get to is this: Congratulations, enjoy, and "Xronia Polla!" With love, your Older brother, George.
